Coming tuesday is Joshin's recitation competition finals. He got selected from his class for the finals(Finals will be between the selected students from all the UKG sections).I want to wish him "All the best". Here goes his poem:
Today I am going to recite a poem named 'The little boy and the Old Man' by Shel Silverstine. Shel Silverstine was an american poet. This poem talks about how grown-up's ignore old people as well as children. The poem goes like this:
Said the little boy,"Sometimes I drop my spoon"
Said the old man,"I do that too"
The little boy whispered,"I wet my pants"
"I do that too",laughed the old man
Said the little boy,"I often cry"
The old man nodded."so do I"
"But worst of all", the little boy said, "it seems"
"grown-up's don't pay attention to me"
And then he felt the warmth of an old wrinkled hand
"I know what you mean",said the old man.
Searching for the poem took several hours of mine since i didn't want him to mug up and say something in the class.I selected this poem because this have simple understandable sentences and a good message. Initially he had confusions between little boy and old man, but after a couple of practises he is clear and fluent. This is the second time he got selected for the finals in this year(UKG). The first was "Story Telling" competition, the details of which i will post some other day.
